Heart Thought

Pascal …

  • Blaise Pascal ( 1623 - 1662) was far ahead of his time. He ushered in ideas that would not be understood until the 1800's.
  • Pascal could think with hs heart while using his mind. Thus he would 'feel' if something is true or not.
  • "The heart has its reasons in which reason cannot understand."
  • Pascal mastered Euclid's Elements by the age of 12.
  • The theorem known as Pascal's Theorem was something he suspected for a long time before he finally proved it. He kept at the proof after many failed attempts because he had a deep feeling that it was true.
  • He knew to stay in the 'Now', keeping his mind and heart on the present moment of thought.
  • "If we examine our thoughts, we shall find them always occupied with the past and the future."
  • When he was 16 he wrote a paper on Projective Geometry and thus heralded Non-Euclidean Geometry way ahead of its time.
  • When he was 19, he invented what some call the first mechanical adding machine.
  • He was very religious and believed that the human heart could reach beyond normal space and time. These possibilities were shown in projective geometry, if only this geometry were true for real life.
  • It is only now that mathematicians and scientists are considering that Non-Euclidean Geometries like Projective Geometry actually describe our real world.
